Hand drawn and carved slate. I overheard a dj say these words on the radio as I was finishing SO FRESH SO CLEAN and decided I would carve it. Once I had taken it on as a project I realised I could turn the meaning around so that instead of these words meaning the end of the world it could be the end of something negative. E.g alcoholism or addiction, two possible alternative titles. I also looked up a quote from the Bible (1 Peter 4:7) and it is something like: The end is near, be sober to pray. Perhaps that was what got me thinking about alcoholism though I don't mind a pint or two, myself! But then it was also stone-cold sober. I love bringing the meaning of stone-carved letters back to stone. Likewise, the name Peter is derived from a word meaning rock. (One search I did for The end is nigh turned up results for The time is at hand.)
